Manual cam chain adjustment.

I am hoping some of the forum boffins can give me some advice on this one.
I would like to check the cam chain tension on my 1979 KZ1300. It has had the manual tensioner modification done, but I am not sure how to proceed. I don’t want to just go tightening things up and hoping for the best.
Any helpful comments would be much appreciated.
