Riders Right hand side generator cover wet?

Will oil leak out if I take off the right hand side generator cover? (86 ZN1300)

What's the little window in the cover for?

If it's on the side stand maybe a negligible amount may drip out? I always put a catch pan and have a bag of kitty liter around the garage to help with any oil spill mishaps. The little window on the cover is so you can see the timing marks on the rotor( I believe? ) Hope this helps.
